What ever happened to the price drop?

So a price cut will have to wait until next year then?

Fergal Gara: Yes.

Have you thought about timing on that?

Fergal Gara: That's still under discussion.

Also this is only even applicable to Europe, which operates completely independently of America in terms of pricing and bundles.

^Thank you for the clarifying link.

Anyone interpreting that as "there will be a price cut in 2013" is an absolute moron and some of the gaming press did.

I strongly think there will be a price cut but it is not something that has been confirmed.

Sony probably doesn't want to announce a price cut for the current fiscal year (which ends March 31) because it will cut into their profitability.

I would expect price cuts to get into effect after March 31 sometime. I think Sony will lower the cost of the Vita and the PS3 before the fall but I don't think it's going to happen until April at the earliest.

Target has a Vita LEGO Batman 2 bundle for $199. Free game and a price drop on the console.

For the record. The interview with the Sony representative (who likely isn't the one making the decisions anyway) went something like this:

Q: So a price drop will have to wait until 2013 then?
A: Yes.

That is not an announcement and there has been no announcement. What he meant was that there wouldn't be a price drop in 2012 because that was what they were discussing. It's very likely to happen but there has been absolutely no announcement or official confirmation of a price drop in 2013.

That sounds pretty good; does the bundle come with a normal Vita or is it some kind of promotional Lego Batman one?

*Sees that Target has the Lego Batman bundle on sale again*

... and here I just spent $250 on the Assassin's Creed bundle yesterday...

... oh well, I've had my hands all over it, and no visible fingerprints ftw.

It's just a regular black Vita. I prefer the white one because fingerprints are less visible on it but that's the only difference. Note that the bundle does not include a memory card and you NEED one.
