Do you guys think the Vita has a better build quality than the 3DS?

The 3DS feels like it was made out of cheap plastic. The Vita feels smooth, strong, and durable whenever I grasp my hands around it.

The hinges always feel like they are going to break on the DS series. My ds lites actually did.

Neither feel expensive like an iPad.

I strangely feel the opposite, I think they both feel like quality handhelds but I've owned every handheld since Atari lynx.

The vita definitely feels like a premium product. The 3DS models are a bit tacky a cheap looking. The xl is worse.

Both systems have been drop tested on youtube 3 times at 3 different angles from 4 feet high onto concrete. - Vita - 3DS xl

Both survived with nothing but a few scratches.

I wouldn't say "cheap", but when I first grabbed them I certainly didn't think "now that's a high quality electronic right there!".

I'd say they're both ok and that's about it.

They're $250 game machines, with that in mind I'd say they're pretty good quality. I'm sure if they priced them out to $500 then we could get brushed metal cases and additional polish.

i have an xl and a vita..

they're both built pretty well. the vita is like a sexy lady, you wanna protect it by buying a case for it. and the XL is like a military guy, you can just throw it anywhere and it would still be ok even without a case.

the only difference is the material used, i feel like the vita is the more "premium" device. but i feel more comfy using the 3ds outside my house though.

so in short, whichever you buy, you are getting an equally good quality device.
