Pokemon is a 3DS system seller. If it works for Nintendo, I don't see why it wouldn't work for Sony and the Vita.

This topic just keeps coming back...

Genki created a Pokemon-like game for the original Playstation, it was called Jade Cocoon. It was a great RPG but nobody bothered to buy it.

No it wouldn't. Pokemon is an established franchise, theres no way that any new Pokemon clone to come out would EVER even come close to selling as much as the main series Pokemon games. It just won't happen. Its like World of Warcraft, no matter how many mmorpgs come out, even if they are "better" they will never have the success WOW has.

Also, to further prove my point, just look at what happened with Sony Smash Bros. Its wasn't a system seller at all, while Super Smash Bros, is.

Sony did create a Pokemon-like game, it was called Jade Cocoon.

If by "Sony" you mean "Genki", then yes.

Ah, sorry. I thought Genki was one of Sony's studios back then.

Copying a formula doesn't necessarily mean copying the success. Think about it:

1) Pokemon has had a lot-- a LOT-- of time to refine itself. There's lot of little things that have been added to the game, it's not something you can just up and copy.

2) A Pokemon clone's biggest problem would be Pokemon itself. Sure, you can make a Pokemon clone on a Vita, and advertise it as such, but then people would see the Vita's price tag plus the games (which we have to admit are mostly niche) and think, "why not just get the actual Pokemon on the cheaper 3DS which has more of the games that we like (read: more mainstream)?"

3) Then we have PSASBR and Super Smash Bros. Not to mention: every platformer ever vs Mario.
