Thinking of getting a Vita today for my birthday. Questions

Just basically would like some info on pros and cons of the hand held. I am a bit skeptical as I got a psp and I really haven't touched it in forever. I want something to freaking play as I can't play my ps3 as it keeps randomly shutting off. Thanks in advance.

Cons
memory cards are expensive (probably due to anti-piracy feature)
Device is expensive
Bubble OS is only ok
Remote play doesn't work on many titles
Games seem expensive when compared to phone games

Pros
Best console ever released
Best launch titles for a new console ever

Pros - Has a few good games already, PS1 classics, solid 2013 lineup so far, very powerful, great buttons, great looking touchscreen, apps like Netflix

Cons - Doesn't have extremely popular franchises like Final Fantasy or Resident Evil, expensive equipment, nowhere near fully backwards compatible (in NA), fairly short battery life (not a problem for someone with a wall outlet), battery is harder to remove.

Cons:
Dealing with the trolls on this board
Expensive memory card
New console (That means less games for now)
No basketball/hockey game for now. Only baseball, American football, and soccer/football. I don't know if you like sports games though.

Pros:
Best graphics on a handheld
Best handheld for fighting games/shooting games
If you like Sony exclusives, then expect many to come for the Vita
Really good at browsing the internet and going on Youtube

Keep in mind the 3DS and the Vita have around the same battery life. Not trying to start something but both modern handhelds have that 4-6 hour mark.

Earth Defense Force 2017 P, Gravity Rush, Assassin's Creed: Liberation, Jet Set Radio, LittleBigPlanet Vita, MLB 12 (if you're into baseball) are all games I just can't put down.

Many of the others aren't bad and you'll probably enjoy also, such as Shinobido 2, Katamari, Retro City, etc.

And if you're into PS1 classics, the list grows exponentially large.

The 3DS and PSVita are both outstanding systems. Wally the Equality Weasel says so.
