Does dissidia duodeciem's data install matter if you have a digital copy?

It might make it slightly better, but it's mainly there for UMD copies.

Since Vita memory is at a premium, I would say don't worry about it.

i know in mhp3rd, the data install allowed for the weapons and armors 3d model to show up automatically in stores (and maybe the chest?) rather than pressing start every time. So knowing this, there could be something small that behaves differently in this game?

No, it does nothing if it's downloaded digitally, as the game itself is on your memory card thingy.

its not needed due to the game being already installed. the option is for umd copies.
