Looking to play Persona 4 Golden, should I play the prequels first?

And I don't even know which are all the prequels to be honest.

I see on the PSN Store there's Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 1 to 4, but I remember there were one's like Digital Devil Saga and what not.

Which ones of these must I play before I play Persona 4 Golden?

Play Persona 4 Golden. If you like that, look into Persona 3 FES(PS2 Classic available on PS3) and avoid Persona 3 Portable. P1 & P2 are nothing like P3 & P4. I heard P1 was meh and P2 IS was good. I am actually looking into getting P2 IS at somepoint
Currently Playing: PlayStation All-Stars(PSV), Naruto UNSG(PS3), inFAMOUS(PS3), Persona 4 The Golden(PSV), Growlanser WoT(PSP) & Persona 4 Arena (PS3)

You don't have to play any of the other games at all, but honestly, I would suggest if you decide to play Persona 4, play Persona 3 (Portable if you'd prefer on the go) first, because from what I've read on the P4 boards, most people don't wanna go to back P3, just because they enjoy P4 THAT much more. Persona 1&2 have a MUCH different style of play from P3 & P4, so I'm not sure if you'd like those two.

No, because they really don't connect with each other. Other than 3 in terms of P4A but 1 and 2 has nothing to do with 4.

P3 and P4 are very similar games, P1 and P2 are also pretty similar to each other, but not to P3 or 4. The games are also not related to one another in terms of story, although they do share themes.

If you like the social aspect and animated cutscenes more? You'll enjoy FES more.

If you like the RPG gameplay more, get P3P. FES is much more aesthetically pleasing, but I just can't get around not being able to directly control my own party members.

The prequels are SMT: Persona 1, Persona 2, a duology consisting of Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment, then SMT: Persona 3, Persona 3 FES is the enhanced version, and P3P is the PSP port.

It really doesn't matter if you play P4:G then decide to go play the past entries but the numerous "quality of life" improvements in P4:G can make it harder to appreciate the past titles.

If you still have a PS2, I really recommend Nocturne.
