Sony "If we can't be the HANDHELD KING we will be the CONSOLE KING"

#31bg20202Posted 2/19/2013 11:29:05 AM
Sony will have a big head start on next gen if:

1. Wii U keeps the slow pace of adoption.
2. XBOX keeps its rumored need for always on Internet, being unable to play used games, and no shift in XBL pricing.
3. Apple doesn't come out of the blue with a ringer.

So according to what I'm reading in this topic, Sony always loses?

Sony doesn't understand that competition is over the roof nowdays. People have so many options for games these days and Sony is taking things for granted and don't even do commercials for Vita. Sony should have gone all out on vita from day 1 with commercials and give awesome bonuses for pre orders and definitely ps1 support should have came way sooner. Sony didn't do anything else than release the system and think "people know us, psp sold great and now we can do anything we want!". Nintendo thought that when they had their horrible launch line up and way too high price tag but at least Nintendo learnt their lesson.

3rd party developers couldn't give a damn about those numbers. wii could had sold 140 million to sony's 70 million. ln the end if 3rd parties can't sell their games on said console what's the point?

Gooby pls

Nintendo made bankroll off the Wii, far more than Sony did off the PS3

I don't think anybody is going to argue that the PS2 "won" that generation

60 of those 70 million PS3 where sold at a loss, so is subjective, software is more important this days, and even in that subject, NIntendo won...

In the top 20 games sold for the Wii, 16 games are from Nintendo, in the top 20 from the ps3, 6 are from Sony...

And the top selling game from Sony is GT5, with 8 millions, top Wii game (that is was not in a bundle) is Mario Kart Wii with 30 millions....

So your proof that 60million ps3 were sold at a loss.

I'm pretty sure the 360, Wii, and PS3 all had similar adaption rates over time. The 360 is the highest but not by a lot (like one extra game average).

I found this when I Googled (but it's from 2010):

http://www.afterdawn.com/news/article.cfm/2010/05/15/ps3_game_attach_rate_closes_in_on_xbox_360_s

PS3 was 8.1 while 360 was 8.8.

I found this from 2011:

http://www.ps3center.net//news/5149/ps3-attach-rate-increases-further/

PS3 was 8.5 and 360 was 8.9.

Anyway the difference between the two over the last couple of years hasn't been much at all.

Who is the king of this generation when it comes to quality of the games is all subjective. It's a pointless discussion.

On the other hand, who won based on sales is Nintendo. It doesn't matter if third-party titles sold under par for the Wii. Nintendo sold the most systems and the most games, end of discussion.

most games? lol, tell that to the millions of Wii users that had to buy a 360 or a PS3 to play, well, more games.

Or tell that to the majority of Wii users that didnt touched their system in Wii's last couple of years, only to play MH or the Zelda game.

Tell me some games that have sold more than Mario Kart Wii, New Super Mario Bros, Wii Sports, Wii Fit etc this generation.

Thought so...

Now lets take it a step further... combine all the games sold for each system and compare them, then lets talk. Yes Nintendo games sell well they always do but how many of those come out in the life span of the system. While the PS3 or 360 games might not sell as well individually, these 2 systems library is much larger and diverse.
