It appears that Sony is planning to support the Vita for 10 years. This has a variety of implications. First, it means that Sony has confidence in their system. It also appears that they are working hard to procure more third-party support. If you ask me, I think the PS4 connectivity will help the system a lot. Here's an interesting article that talks about Sony's intentions with the Vita: http://www.gearsoftech.com/2012/10/sony-will-support-ps-vita-for-10-years-as-it-struggles-with-publishers/

Whoa whoa whoa...it's great that they wanna support it for 10 years, but don't get lazy sony. I expect to see "vita segundo" or w/e in no later than 6 years.

I don't see why they'd give up on a machine they've invested so much in, financially anyway.
It's great hardware, I can't wait until it starts picking up.

Ehh...just keep in mind that 10 years doesn't mean 10 years of games. They said the same about the PS2 and PS3.

You are implying that the PS2 and the PS3 both have no interesting games during their own lifecycles?

Try reading the rest of my post. My point is not to assume they're going to pump out games for 10 years.
