Best way is to zoom it in LOL make sure every pixel is lit when playing PSX/One games with letter boxing.

Or you can always fiddle with the home screen after a few minutes and jump back in.

Letter boxing (black bars) won't "age".. you can have different color effects on those areas..

worst case scenario, you're letter boxes will produce better whites but the rest of the screen has a different tint.

Already happened to a dude that used his VITA for web browsing most of the time.

How long does it take for the color tinting to happen? Should I be okay if I only play for like an hour at a time and then either use the homescreen for awhile or turn the screen off for a little bit?

Playing - Too much. But mostly Vita, PS3, and PC games.

I brought two vitas last month. The first vitas analogs stick messed up so i returned it. The second vita worked fine but i transferred LOD and played it half the day, using a custom 4:3 stretched screen size the whole time.. and i left it running on the vita all night. anyway when i picked my vita up the next morning, and awakened the screen.
i immediately noticed LOD looked a bit browner/yellow then i remembered. After hitting the home screen i could tell right away the difference. the exact size of the psx image had been burned in. i found this out by opening the browser and going to a blank page. the center was yellow and the edges were normal white. Its prob not a big deal because you cant notice it unless you look for it, but it still sucks that it can happen. be careful guys.

IDK if OLED works similar to LCD. I remember reading/hearing that burn-in in LCD was caused by black areas.

Do PSPs have image retention problems?

I never had problems with my PSP and I played FF VII on it for days.

LCD's can potentially burn in, but aren't susceptible to it like Plasma or OLED.
Like I said earlier, it's possible it could happen, but I wouldn't really worry about it.
