Total PS Vita hardware units sold?

#1alakingjoePosted 3/15/2013 5:16:53 PM
Here's my take on the ps vita hardware sales.

The PS vita sold 2.2 million units total.(as of 06/30/2012)
http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/20/vita-sales-august-2012/

I added all the media create sales which resulted with 550,000 units sold in japan.(06/25/2012 to 3/10/2013)
http://gematsu.com/?s=media+create+sales

I've got no info for the us sales, but the vita sold 160,000 units on black friday.(11/23/2012)
http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/11/29/comparing-nintendo-sony-and-microsoft-black-friday-sales

I've got absolutely no info for european sales.

Basically the ps vita sold 2.9 million units, even more since the info I've got is lacking. I'm quite curious about this, anybody know a more up to date sales figures?

There are no official numbers out and neither America or Europe have any public official numbers. Media Create, NDP, Chart Track, vgchartz and every other tracking service or whatever you call it is built on estimates for that matter.

Vgchartz guess at 4,3 million is the closest you'll get to the truth but you won't find any other numbers and no one knows by how much that number is off.

Actually npd and media create aren't estimate they are exact numbers. They such don't show digital sales.

No. NDP uses a much larger sample than vgchartz and large enough to be considered reliable but it isn't "exact numbers", they're estimates.

So you admit that media create uses exact numbers. I did research on npd they get exact sales numbers from about 60% of retailers ( the big two they don't get is wall-mart and amazon) and there margin of error is 5%. So you were right about that. Versus vgchartz margin of error being almost 50%.

I looked up vg charts on wiki and it's a video game sales tracking website? should I use it to fill in the eu and us sales or is this site fake?

It's unreliable and you can't use it to fill any numbers. There are no official numbers for EU/NA. Their guesses/estimates are probably better than yours or mine though.

Also Shadowfxd2, no one in this topic has said Vgchartz is a reliable source.

Hercik1: I don't know how Media Create gets their numbers but I doubt they're actual exact sales figures.
