Prediction: 3G Vita to get discontiued, 4G Vita to be announced at E3

#1AjescentPosted 3/20/2013 6:03:49 AM
I have no proof to back this up but it does seem to make sense (kinda)With ps4 streaming announced, I don't think a wifi only Vita will hack it becuase will want to play anywhere and everywhere e.g like me on buses etc.

So it would make sense to get something that is better than a 3G Vita... (you know, can actually play online games on the go? lulz!!!11!)

That's my prediction, feel free to rip it to shreds.

I survived the Apocalyps3 and the Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.
If my speilling or grammar sucks, it's the fault of my Vita Touchscreen.

well if you look at the Japanese Vita site here;
http://www.jp.playstation.com/psvita/hardware/

it shows all the 3G models as "limited edition."

take that for what you will.

All the 3G models? No.

It's not saying that all 3G models are limited edition.

It is just saying that they are selling a limited edition 3G model. It's a limited edition version with a popular Japanese character (named Miku Hatsune) printed on the back of the Vita.

Try clicking the link on the page, and you'll actually see it.

If you scroll down to the 3G/WiFi area, all of them have the "limited edition" tag behind them, whereas the WiFi only versions don't.

The Hatsune Miku ones are completely sold out.

I really hope not. I wouldn't be against a new wifi model that is cheaper but a 4G vita would still have the problems that the 3G vita has. That being that most games won't even let you use it to play online.

I hope a new slim vita or something comes out though.

Then again I would be suprised if the vita is even mentioned at E3. With the PS4 coming out and the fall line up for PS3 Its looking like the only time vita will get a mention at all is when they mention remote play with PS4.

And as far as that is concerned, sorry Sony, you keep saying the same thing over and over again but have yet to deliver. PSP will have remote play with PS3! Nope. Vita will have remote play with PS3! A handful of games support it and that's it. VIta can remote play PS4! Sure it will Sony. Sure it will.

Oh, I see what you're talking about. I'm betting the reason why these are marked limited edition is because they include free hours of 3G service in the package. Sony said from the start that they were only going to provide those free hours for early adopters, didn't they?

It seems that they are going to phase out the "special package" so they will no longer have to provide free 3G service at the start.

I hope I can clarify a few things found on the page:

The heading in the third section reads "Shukka kanryo moderu", which basically means "completely shipped models" (i.e., no longer in production). The models listed are the two Hatsune Miku Limited Editions (Wi-Fi, and 3G/Wi-Fi), and the 32GB Bonus Pack (3G/Wi-Fi).

When you click on each text box, you are directed to that model's specific page. The Hatsune Miku Limited Editions offer the same extras, but differ in price and function. It seems that the 3G/Wi-Fi version includes 20 hours of free service for the first 30 days.

The 32GB bonus pack has its own unique set of extra items. All Limited Editions appear to be similar to the PSP Bundles sold outside of Japan--exclusive items that only come with that specific purchase.

The other models listed on the page (Wi-Fi and 3G/Wi-Fi) are still being produced. However, the Starter Pack (second row, right side under the 3G/Wi-Fi heading) and the Soul Sacrifice Premium Edition probably will be more difficult to find.

I hope this helps.
