The sales of Vita games aren't accurate

#1Human-BeanPosted 4/17/2013 3:00:39 PM
The Vita may seem to have lower software sales than its competitor and, the reason is that most games are sold digitally. The PSN store is a haven for gamers, it's easier for consumers to purchase games from here instead of buying physical copies. This has affected the figures for the amount of games sold as digital copies are not included in the aggregate sales. The Vita may not be selling hardware as much as its competitor but, the software attachment rate is extremely high. Sony is always adapting and, digital sales are going to be prominent in the near future. The online component of the Vita clearly reflects this and, the independent developer support cements this.

It's obvious, why else would independent developers flock to the Vita. To capitalise on the success of the PSN store.

Steam also gives some of the best deals on games that you can find.

If you are going to compare that to a handheld that has overpriced memory cards and digital games that never keep up with the prices of retailers, you are out of your mind.

Apple's inbuilt memory is also very overpriced, yet look at all the downloads. For mobile electronics people are more used to downloading now.

The most optimistical data predict a maximum of 17% of PSstore sells, so let us think of a 25% on retail products. It still isn't as great as you may think, and less if we take into account that the PS+ system enhaces the renting of online games rather than buying them. So yeah, they aren't accurate as neither are the sells of 3ds software or ps3 software to put as an example.
And let us not compare the environment of the psv with that of pcs... the ps network is still some years away from it (maybe they might reach it at the end of this gen, but more in the acceptance of the customer rather than a domination of digital goods for main retail titles).
Indies are another entity.

Which most likely furthers my point of digital not being nearly as big of a thing as you make it out to be.
