Actually PS3 was only on top for 2011 and 2012 in the tables you linked, and the 3DS nearly upstaged it in 2012.

It's kinda funny this article is bringing up Sony Financial woes when Nintendo just posted an 18700000000 yen loss this year.

That's 188 million USD, after losing 460 million year before.

Difference is thats the frist time Nintendo have posted a loss is over 30 odd years as a company they have no dept and an estimated $20 billion in the bank.

Sony Lost $5.7 billion for 2011 and expected to post anther big loss for 2012, as a company they've been losing money for the last 10 years and have more debt than they have cash which why they have to sell assets to free up cash.

I thought Sony was posting gains this year since they sold those buildings?

Why did they have to sell those buildings in the first place? Exactly.

Wouldn't that make things worse than better for them?

They still posted a loss too. Not to mention all the studios they closed this generation and they ended up in third place after dominating two gens.

'Sony is in deep trouble with its PlayStation Vita handheld. Not only is Sony now effectively a single-platform company, but the sales of that one platform (the PlayStation 3) are shrinking.'

PS3 (outselling everything globally if you add all territories together)
PSV (#2 selling console in Japan week-on-week and picking up speed in EU)
PSP (still selling well in JP, still has lots of upcoming games)
PS4 (pre-orders are live, launches this year)

Stopped reading at the stupidity in the first paragraph.

Wow. Being in maximum delusion mode? The PSP and the PS2? Don't make me laugh. The PSP selling well in Japan was 2 years ago, now it's barely moving 10k weekly. Your post is so crappy, you even had to bring PS4 preorders in the mix. Like the article said, the PS3 is the only system that is selling well and it's only going down from here.

Honest question: How is Sony being a single platform company any different from their competition? You could say the same about Microsoft and Nintendo. (with 3DS and 360 respectively).

Nintendo has the Wii-u which hasn't even been out a year yet and MS has the PC.
