Copy post from psp board:

Armored Core 3:Silent Line/Last Raven are Create-a-Bot games where you pilot your creations. And if your in to getting perfect scores on missions and finding all the hidden customizable parts then that may be up your alley.

Carnage Heart EXA is like Armored Core but instead of Create-a-Bot you Create-a-Program for a Bot and give it weapons to use. And instead of piloting, you give it AI (or program the controls yourself). The focus is more on the programming and the programming is pretty deep (really complex). it can be fun creating programs that make your team of robots do the harlem shake. Not for everyone, but if you like programming it can be fun.

I recommend Front Mission 3 if you are looking for a more tactical turn based experience. It is a PS1 game and it is easily one of the best turn based mech games ever.

I've only played Armored Core 3 but it wasn't fun so I'd so skip them. The game is just too ridiculous. Like how it charges you for the bullets you use, damage you get, etc. You basically have to rely on the Arena for cash which is meh.

Even on the Vita, the controls aren't good.

Well MO, AC3: Silent Line has more fun missions and has an AI partner you can train. AC3: Last Raven is notoriously tougher but in terms of features, it introduces part tweaking where you can raise or lower stats on a body part with a fixed number of points to spend.

And its best you import a save from AC3 vanilla before going either way on the two expansions. You could use the money and parts as a head start. Also its expected that you load game after failing a mission to retain your cash.

It really comes down to preference, but the general consensus for most people is that Last Raven is the be AC
