I hope Vita fails for the same reason I hope Wii-U fails.

And N64 while perhaps dominated commercially, produced some excellent games. So don't be forgetting that in your "winner takes all" design, the winner isn't actually taking all.

Look on the N64 page. Top 10 games? Not a single one on that list I cared about. At least Sega Saturn had a few, like Panzer Dragon Saga, Shining Force III, and even Dragon Force was pretty good. But regardless, compared to the PS1, they both got dominated. Winner takes all is an overstatement, but one console dominating isn't.

Who gives a damn about your opinion? Or mine? The fact is that many believe the best game to have ever been made was made on the N64.

I want each of the systems to exist when they give you different experiences.

The 3DS and PSVita are both outstanding systems. Wally the Equality Weasel says so.

Except the ps1 had major competition. The Saturn, N64, Arcades were still viable markets in the 90's in the west, PC gaming really took off, gameboy color was out.

So you're wrong, silly, probably 17 and don't actually remember 90's gaming. Also 50 bucks in the 90's was more than 60 now a days. The only system with negative inflation was not the psx, but the ps2.

PS1 was the lions share of the gaming market. Sold way more than both Saturn and N64 combined.

Last gen for example, was close between 3 consoles. PS3, 360 and Wii all sold very well.

PS2 completely destroyed Gamecube and X box as well. Just not as dominating as the PS1. PS3 on the other hand wasn't dominating at all, and the gaming lineup was rather lackluster compared to the previous 2 systems.

Because the ps3 was freaking expensive, had high development costs, and was VERY difficult to develop for. Its not all black and white.

I think the National Socialist party had a similar idea... it didn't pan out.

I don't disagree with that. The PS3's cell processor was a pain in the ass to work with for developers. And I hear the PS3 developer kit pretty much sucked. But the bright side is things aren't going to be like that for the PS4, because it will have a x86 based CPU, and a few developers have already said "its not gonna kill us this time around" when referring to development costs on the PS4.

So you're basing your argument on "I don't care about these games, so nobody else did"

I happen to know many people who preferred the N64. What if someone didn't care for the ps1 games? You want them to be screwed over so you don't have to pay for another console? Like I said before, you way of thinking is incredibly selfish.

And that still doesn't mean anything. It still may fail, just because some people see no reason to move on to a new console from the PS3 or 360. We have no idea how the new consoles are going to do. They may all fail.
