I recommend that you should preorder your Vita games...

When I picked up Soul Sacrifice last week on launch day I asked how many my local Gamestop, received. They only got 8 on launch day all preorders. The employees told me that they planned on getting 3 more later that week but thats pretty shaky. Unless you preorder from Amazon or Bestbuy and your experiences are different and or buy your games past launch date I suggest you preorder, especially the niche titles.

Same day I preordered; Muramasa Rebirth, Dragon's Crown, Ys: Memories Of Celceta. Just to be safe considering my Gamestop is pretty cool about cancels so I don't mind doing it months in advance.

Indeed. The days of Gamestop getting tons of extra copies of handheld games seems to be over. 3DS games are also in short supply lately.

Yeah. Of course, in my experience, preordering on Amazon is never a sure thing either; they'll just cancel your order on release day if they don't get enough. I've had Gamestop.com lag shipping stuff for three weeks before (Ragnarok Odyssey). I haven't preordered from Best Buy as yet, no local store for any of those retailers, but I do hit up my local independent video game retailer.
I'm just hoping Amazon doesn't cancel my Muramasa Rebirth collector's edition. =\

Don't get me wrong they could be lying to me but honestly my gamestop has only asked if I wanted anything else once every time I've been there, always been a 5 second ordeal when it comes to those types of things, so ymmv just want to put the word out there just in case anyone wants these games at launch and intend on walking in. I know some people that got burned when for example, Pokemon Conquest came out and they couldn't get it anywhere on launch.

Preordering doesn't always work either as I found out with Fire Emblem: Awakening.

Yeah I basically gave up entirely on Gamestop....ALL of my shopping is done online for my PS3/360 and I go all digital with my PC/Vita. Its just easier that way.

Didn't that preorder come with a really cheap skin instead of an artbook for some people? Not trying to be mean if that happened to you. :(

That had more to do with Nintendo more than retailers.

The artbook was Gamestop exclusive I think. My problem was, Amazon didn't get near enough copies of games to meet their preorders, and I wound up cancelling mine after I found a copy at Target.
