Why are the PS Vita and the Wii U doing so bad in terms of sales?

That Nintendo direct was garbage. You know what's amazing though? It surpasses 20k view.

Short answer...probably a combination of price and lack of must have games. For both consoles.

Lack of quality games. Wii U has too many 3rd party gimmicky and kids games, whereas Vita has too many garbage indie games and JRPG games. Wii U needs more Smash Bros, Zelda, Mario and other first party Nintendo games whereas Vita needs more Batman, Uncharted, Killzone, GTA, GT, Metal Gear, etc.
