The only comparison is that they are both cheaper.

I mean, 2DS is marketed towards children, while the TVita is like a streaming device, that happens to play Vita games.

not "Maiden with Eyes of Blue"

They are more or less equal:

Vita TV

pros
-cheaper
-ability to play on TV (only way to play it)

cons
-not portable
-doesn't play all Vita games
-relatively useless except for TV functionality if you already have a Vita

2DS

pros
-cheap (not as cheap as the vita TV)
-functions just like a 3DS without the 3D/all games compatible as well as portable

cons
-ugly design (for most people)
-lack of 3D functionality (not a big loss for some people)
-redundant if you already have a 3DS

IMO, it all depends on how much you value game compatibility. The 2DS has the edge in this department because it's basically a watered down 3DS. On the other hand, the Vita TV is more like a Vita turned into a stand-alone console but missing some key Vita features such as the touchscreen and thus making it incompatible with some games.

Well, in the standard portable console sense.

I mean, it is about the size of a stack of cards.
But yeah, you can't like, play it on a road trip or something, obviously.

It makes me wonder if there are gonna have to be 2DS warning labels if games use 3D for puzzles, like Super Mario 3D Land.

Both are pretty useless but at least 2ds can play games that are exclusive while vita tv plays ports that were already on the t.v.

Not looking to start anything, but how is this a fair comparison?

The 2DS might not have 3D, but there has not been one game that really required it, not even 3D Land, and the 2DS keeps the other parts used for game, like the touch screen and the Gyro controls.

The VitaTV, while interesting, completely removes the touchscreen component, and I assume the PS3 controller would supply the Gyro. Still, that's a huge change and pretty much has Sony admitting they have no real confidence in touch screen controls and really just added them in for, well, no reason.

I don't like it. The touchscreen and backpad is what makes the Vita what it is. You can't just flippantly remove them.

Also did I see someone say te 2DS was going to be more expensive than the VitaTV? I thought they were both going to be $99?

I truly find this prose expressive,
of the state of these two gadgets which are company exclusive,
Before anyone says something dismissive,
it's true that the 2DS plays games that are exclusive,
while the vita TV plays ports that are unimpressive
Nevertheless... both are good for those
who live their lives reclusive.
