Is Killzone Mercenary selling about 41K good or bad?

This doesn't include digital and Sony has been pushing for them but are these good numbers or not. If you don't think these are good what numbers would you expect it to sell.

I think this is what Vita is a superior machine that no one can fully utilize because they can't get the money back. I was hoping for 100k but maybe the digital pushed it past that. I just hope the game broke even so they might make another because this is one of the best shooters on a handheld ever.

I think that's decent. I don't think the budget was big on the game.

That's the reason that the PSP lost to the DS. It wasn't because Nintendo did a better job, its because there was no profit in the PSP

DS games sold for $35, PSP games sold for $40. Yet PSP games cost several times more to develop than DS games. DS games were astronomically more profitable than PSP games, there was almost no risk of a game flopping as well. It's also a testament to how much DS owners were ripped off on game costs, DS games should have sold for no more than $20.

The fact we even had big games at all on the PSP is a testament to how poor Nintendo's relationship with third parties are. Evident clearly in their consoles.

I can get behind this but I'll add that since PSP pushed more technically, it's had a longer shell life, if you look at japan, the system is still going strong even outselling the DS weekly by a couple of times.

You talk as if Guerilla Cambridge is some rinky-dink, 3-man team that works for free. I figured you would be hyping this to anybody and everybody that would listen, being the dedicated Sony PR representative you are.

Let's do some mathemagics (trashy and maybe illogical assumptions and probably wrong calculations).. strictly for the LULZ.

I remember there was a photo of GC team after finishing the game. I think there were about 24 people. It's best if someone finds the twit pic.

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/189893/

$84,337 US based game dev? Wonder how much for EU? Anyone know?

Let's low ball for the lulz. How about 40K a year for each of the staff? Maybe not all of them are paid 80k yearly :P

Assume they were working for a year and a half with KZM.

24 employees
$ 40,000/year
1 & 1/2 year
(let's include regional dubs and text translation costs)

A.) $ 40,000 x 1.5 (year) x 24 = $ 1,440,000

Well, if we use 80K (said average)

B.) $ 80,000 x 1.5 x 24 = $ 2,880,000

NPD says 41K in the US.

41,000 game sales x $ 40 = $ 1,640,000

VGC world wide seems around 80K

80,000 game sales x ~ $ 40 = $ 3,200,000

How about digital downloads? Anyone? Let's assume 15% and still say it's $ 40 ($ 35.99 US PSN). = $ 480,000 World Wide.

TOTAL World Wide = $ 3,680,000

But how much does Sony actually get after tax (local and international since it's available in different regions), retailer cut and other misc. fees?

How about -25% because of taxes and other fees? Anyone has a better realistic number?

$ 3.68 M - 25% = 2.76 M

So:

A.) (40K income/yr.)
2.76 M - 1.44M = $ 1.32 M profit

B.) (80K)
2.76 M - 2.88 = $ $ 0.12 M loss

Hmmm...

LOL why? It looks shiny and expensive, has a solid single player campaign, and good online. There's $ 40 worth of game here.

Staff of 49!? Maybe some of those are friends/family/outside GC

Straw grasp lmao

Sales numbers look pretty bad if they really consists of 49 working people of minimum wage full-time pay.

EDIT: I mean above minimum wage pay.
