Does the 3G have any features I can use without paying the monthly fee?

I nearly decided to trade my wi-fi only PS Vita for a 3G model. When I found out that there is a monthly fee to use the 3G features, I am now thinking of just sticking with my regular PS Vita. However, is there anything special that the PS Vita 3G has that the wi-fi doesn't and does not require me to pay a monthly fee/

It's a heavier paperweight than the WiFi only model.

gps is a "dumb" system(it's pretty smart, but the satellites can't recognize specific users or freely send signals)
so they couldn't make it paid even if they wanted to.

maps, t@g, and i think proteus make use of gps, as well as some psp navigation apps.
maps uses your location to point out your location on the map.
t@g uses it to find out what tags it should show near you.
proteus uses your location to generate a location-specific island.
and the psp navigation apps(if they are available on the vita, i'm not sure about that) use it to point out your current location as well.
