Terraria crafts its way to the PS Vita

Terraria has already been making waves on the PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and even mobile phones, and now it's going to be making its way to the PS Vita.
The PS Vita version of Terraria will feature a number of cool features, namely the ability to play with fellow PS3 players with Cross-Platform play.
Here is the full list of additions to Terraria on PS Vita.

Includes PS®Vita Cross-Platform Play, enrolling PS®Vita players in Terraria's wider community and allowing them to interact and game with PS3™ system players.

A redesigned PS®Vita control system (including touch support), an intuitive crafting/item interface and a revamped tutorial world.

PlayStation®Network online multiplayer allows up to 8 players! Fight bosses together, build awesome castles or duel each other in PvP combat!

PlayStation®Network leaderboards & trophies.

I literally just made it up to Hallowed Armor on the Xbox 360 version. I'm debating if I should re-buy this. I've already put in hundreds of hours. Plus I don't feel like starting over from scratch. I don't know.

Is the game hard, like if you play multiplayer do certain things change like scarcer resources?

I can't wait for this to be released. Played it nearly from start to finish on PS3 and PC. On a side note, 30+ inhabitants can be recruited to live in your house? I...I thought there were only 18 or so (assuming that's what it's referring to, such as NPCs like the Guide)...
