Better social features, Vita or 3DS?

3DS has StreetPass and can connect to other nearby 3DS owners, and also has Miiverse, a glorified Nintendo forum space.

Vita has PSN and proper friend messaging. Anything else like StreetPass?

Which is better?

I like the mii's showing up on the friend list but like you said, no messaging. Vita has messaging or party chat with your friends, you can actually speak to each other (built in mic) and can be playing completely different games. Vita has more/better online games which I consider a social plus.

They should change near into something like street pass.

3DS is not very sociable if you can't talk to people. At least with Vita's near you can still send them messages.

I don't have a 3DS, but voice chat on Vita is very good.

Near is pointless crap.

Grade that as you will.

This.
There's times when I play only my Vita but still bring my 3Ds for Streetpassing.

Part of Near's problem is you have to be... near (wifi).

Party chat is amazing though when you actually have a party. Wish you could turn it on in-game instead of turning on chat and then joining your friends' lobbies.

Streetpass > messaging and voice chat.

The Vita's Livetweet and Facebook apps aren't too bad in that regards. Does the 3DS have apps for those services? I know it has YouTube, but I'm not sure if it has Facebook/Twitter apps available.
