Should not have bought Resident Evil 2.... controls :(

exactly who's idea was it to make the controls that way? did common sense exist in Capcom back then... I mean, even Mario 64 had great, near perfect controls for 3D movement and that came out in 96, 2 years prior to RE2...

These are seriously the worst controls I've ever used. Is there any way to adjust them so that I can go in the direction I want without all the gymnastics? I mean, I shouldn't have to stop, press left or right to turn, then press up to go in the direction I want even if I'm going 'down' the screen. To go 'down', I want to press Down, not Up.

and the save system... good god. Should've just got Dead Nation... At least it was only 6 bucks....

6 bucks I could've put toward a better game. :(

The controls are fine.

It's the generation that tried when it wasn't really able to. PS1, Saturn and N64 games have aged much worse than SNES/Genesis and PS2/GC/Xbox. Of course there are exceptions and things did get a little better with time.

Resident Evil fanboys are convinced that the controls are that way on purpose to ratchet up the terror when it's harder to defend yourself because the controls suck.

At that time, it was the only way to keep your character running in the same direction after a change of camera. So, no matter the perspective: your character controls the same.

Is like to operate a remote control toy.

Still, I guess it may be hard for younger gamers.

To some of us - this is the best control scheme dubbed "tank controls"

We still miss Resi 2 and 3 - good times.

They are the so called tank controls and several other PSOne games use them.

I'm okay with them as well.
