Does the freezing glitch show always no matter what I do?

#1orestesddPosted 7/6/2013 7:41:43 AM
I wonder if the freezing glitch shows up every time one plays this game. I am at tower #9 and soon getting to where the freezing glitch should show up. Questions:

1-Is there a way to avoid it while playing this game with lots of Elena's events?
2-If the glitch shows up, how do I work around it?

Thanks.

I encountered the glitch the first time I attempted to enter one of the towers. I'd been keeping a list of methods people have used to get around the glitch with varying degrees of success, and this one was at the top of my list, by virtue of being simple, tried many times by the user, and even potentially logical (if you believe that the glitch is at least partially caused by a loading issue):

As of right now, no one really knows what causes the glitch, but this method has worked without fail for me.

@Avvil, thanks for your post. I will take it into consideration in case I hit the glitch. I will try to keep a back up copy of my saves on a separate SD card just in case I have to go back to a previous tower. If I hit the glitch, then I will take a look a that thread you posted.

Short answer: Not always, and it can be worked around. There are a list of workarounds on the board.

Long answer: There is only one glitch, but it appears to change over time. The reason for this is that the exact cause (how to get into the glitch condition) and cure (how to get out of the glitch condition) are not yet well-understood. There are many fixes listed, each of which will sometimes get you out of the glitch condition, but which ones will work depend on how you got into it, and we don't have the answers for that just yet. If we knew how people got in, it would be easy to tell which ones would get you out.

The one that seems to work in the most situations involves Beast Flesh. Go to the Treetop Tower, and fight until you get Beast Flesh of any type (the Treetop Tower is recommended because there are monsters very early on that will give you Flesh: you can be in and out in under 30 seconds with a little practice). Once you have Flesh, return to the Observatory, and then IMMEDIATELY go into the Dusk or Dawn Tower. The Flesh you're carrying will spoil, but the game usually won't crash.

Even this workaround isn't perfect, but it seems to apply in most situations.

You don't have to worry about backups. One of the things we do understand about the glitch is that it never affects save data.

@EvenSpoonier, thank for the long explanation. I am about to enter the 10th tower, and I hope that if I get the glitch, I can continue the game one way or another.

I just hit the frozen glitch for towers 11 & 12. what I saw was that when I tried to enter , say tower 11, I get a black screen with a faint silhouette of the tower. Then, I was not able to do a thing, and I had to press the Wii power button. After I entered the game from the Wii menu, I was able to enter tower 11. Then, I just looked at the cinematic of tower 11, and returned to the observatory and saved the game. Then, I tried to enter tower 12, and the frozen glitch happened again. At this point, I powered down the Wii and then entered the game through the Wii main menu. I exited the observatory, and went to tower 12 to see the cinematic of tower 12 (no glitch this time) Then I immediately returned back to the observatory and saved the game once more. Anyhow, now I am ready to work on towers 11 & 12, and deal with the glitch one way or another. I am just reporting here what I see about this stupid bug. Thanks for all your comments.

Of course you hit a glitch, it usually happens thanks to XSEED's shoddy port. Ignore Spoon's phrasing of a "workaround" that implies it works all the time but then he goes onto say it won't work sometimes. As of now there is no definitive workaround so we are still stuck with a broken game that really hampers re playability.

Someone said it around this board somewhere but basically run to the area where you enter the towers but don't press A yet.

Stay there for about 10 seconds, then press A. The tower list will come on and move the cursor over the tower you want to enter and leave it there for about 10 seconds.

Then press A again. It should ask if you want to go to tower with a yes or no. Leave it there for another 10 seconds and then go in.

Done it twice in a row entering both towers flawlessly. And yes, I have the NA version.

I still think my solution works the best :D

I just figured out a way to bypass the glitch 100% guaranteed to work every single time.

First:

- Begin the game at 6:00 and sleep for 24hrs so that it's 6:00 again.
- Enter Arcadian Tower and immediately exit to Observatory.
- Walk to the flower garden and stand their for 5mins, then walk inside the Observatory.
- Talk to Elena once.
- Walk 10 circles around the table and stop.
- Remove Strange Grains and place them in your bag.
- Give 9 Strange Grains to Elena.
- Sell 1 Strange Grains to Mavda.
- Sleep for another 24hrs and save your game
- Sleep for 12hrs this time.
- Walk to the basement and stay their for 5mins, it's important Aeron doesn't move.
- Now you're ready to leave for Dawn Tower, after this next step.
- Talk to Mavda and create an item (any item) and place it in your bag.
- Sleep for 12hrs.
- Now you should be able to enter Dawn Tower.

Good luck people.
