There are two situations where sniping is okay to do.

1. Defending or attacking on rush and you can kill the person planting/disarming.

2. When you have a team spawn trapped.

If you snipe at any other time, turn your rifle around and shoot yourself.

What if I was defending a flag in Conquest?

What if you just want to hide on the top of one of the mountains in Firestorm and throw useless bullets that hit nothing?

Nope. You will only likely kill sitting ducks who are capping. Bad players sit still while they cap. Killing bad players who don't influence the outcome is pretty pointless. You're more helpfull down in the action capping/defending.

If you can defend a flag with a sniper rifle, the other guy sucks.

I would also add, either side of a spawn trap. For example, if I'm the US side on Metro, why run headlong in to an automatic death? Seems much more effective to bring out a sniper rifle, place a spwan becon and motion sensor (I like to put mine in the corner to the left of the middle tunnel), and post up. Then I can clear a side for my teammates to push up on. Or at least draw the other teams attention while my team pushes the other side.

When I see teammates doing this, I sometime drive a vehicle out there just to run them over and go back to playing.

Unlikely. Teams heal and revive so fast on metro when they have you capped there. You has to push out on foot hard. Only way.

Lawl, I do the exact same, or I get on my Mav/Eod bot and push them from their sniping spots.

Btw, I went like 18-2 with capturing and defending flags while sniping in Conquest. I was probly like 4th or 5th in the game too I think.

No, your wrong. There are plenty of good recon players out there that use a sniper weapon. The good ones help a lot especially on rush.

That is correct although I would change it to not include attacking in Rush.

You should snipe when on Defense or if you have them spawn trapped.
