Please compare this to Disgaea.

I know it sounds like a ridiculous request; but it seems many of NIS's games have recurring themes and characters. I remember seeing this some time ago. I think I like the concept, but I'm not sure if the gameplay or style is for me. I rarely play platformers, but I'm open to them. The thing is, I've had my 3DS for over a year and I don't have a single 3DS game! (Well, I have Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor: Overclocked but that doesn't really count).

Sell me on this game, thanks!

this game has nothing to do with disgaea besides NIS's attempt to be apart of the cavestory universe with the prinny hat and all. This game in no way a comedic game. Every aspect of the game is serious, excluding one particular character(balrog, who likes to pretend he's tough and has a reoccurring catch phrase).
I dont understand why comparing this to disgaea would help you in anyway since both games are entirely different.
Disgaea = tactics rpg
Cavestory = platform shooter
This game has multiple endings. I don't remember how much(three?: An okay ending, good ending, and perfect ending), but they warrant you to play the game over and over again.
Trust me, the characters in this game alone are enough to make it engaging. The physics are well done, and there's a lot of weapons and item to play with that will keep you entertained throughout your journey.
