EpicKingdom_ posted... Revelations being my favorite since old Ezio is a bad ass. In terms of story and character, I'd rate Revelations pretty highly, too. Maybe because I'm much older than the typical gamer. A main character who is in my dating range and still awesome! <grin> --- We're having a great time: food, wine, a little personal abuse, and the universe going foom.

I like this game, it's the only one besides Revelations I've wanted to replay --- XboxLive: alphaomegatitan PSN: Jawzzus Skyrim Story: http://throughroughandtumble.blogspot.com
Revelations was absolutely forgettable. Two assassinations. Two. Half-assed additions (the hookblade was only "faster" for climbing in specific points, and ziplines were too few and far between to make travel throughout the city much faster; bombs were okay but really unnecessary and you could play through pretty much the entire game and never use them), tower defense was admitted by the devs to be a horrible idea but they put it in anyway. Yusuf did nothing of any real importance, and was promptly forgotten. Ezio's "romance" with Sophia was extremely forced. The Challenges were even more useless filler than Brotherhood's, and that's saying something. There's only one mission each for the Mercenaries and Thieves, while the Romanies were incorporated into the storyline. The idea that buying shops in Constantinople raised your notoriety was really stupid and would have fit Brotherhood's Rome better (and even then it would have been a bad idea). There's no Assassination Contracts for you to do, and while the expanded Recruit missions were better than Brotherhood, they're still little better than an excuse to have different character models for the multiplayer. Med Defense, on paper, is a good idea, but keeping up with it becomes extremely repetitious for little gain. AC3 wasn't perfect by any means, but it was a lot more enjoyable and had a lot more going for it than Revelations. --- Behold the angry wizard putt-putt-putting away.

bobbyrk posted... trimmed for space I agree with some of this the romance was the weakest part of the storyline by far but i disagree about bombs. the bombs are EXTREMELY useful and fun to play around with once you get your head around how to use them. they made the game much more fun and compared to the crafting in ac3 were far more useful. the vast majority of stuff you make in ac3 has no purpose beyond selling it and none of the things that are actually useful can be made until very late in the game even if you have the recipes and ingredients. and the new things in ac3 that are actually NEW things are only the rope darts (which are fun to play with but not as much as bombs were) and sort-of the naval sections. free-running and combat seem to have far fewer options especially compared to revelations, and open conflict is very very very easy now. and then there are the endless bugs that still plague single player (haven't touched multiplayer yet) a year after release, making it feel like a totally unfinished unpolished mess. an alpha build or something. the challenges in revelations weren't useless filler they rewarded unique abilities for your character which mostly related to that faction as you completed them and also weapons with unique functions (the romani dagger for example had a chance to poison enemies on hit making it an excellent choice against jannisaries. they are useless filler NOW though. you don't get a damn thing for doing the challenges in ac3, except maybe a trophy or something equally pointless. then too we has an actual reason to get full sync in revelations (and brotherhood) in the form of unlockable cheats. unlike ac3 that not only has more optional objectives per mission (which have all be done in one playthrough of the mission or that would have been a good thing) but all they get you now for getting ALL of them is an outfit. ac3 is full of stupid design choices everywhere. no bombs long load times no medicine no way to increase the life meter no reason to craft (the vast majority of things) almost no rewards for sidequests and things that actually impact gameplay, etc etc etc. even gentle push is gone. oh and the horses are the horrible ac2 kind not the still-bad-but-much-better kind from brotherhood. and then there are the bugs that plague all aspects of the game especially the few new things. edit: the new ui is horrible pointless and poorly explained and alot of the new mechanics are explained poorly or not at all (things like the concord mission where you have to defend the bridge) --- everytime i think i've seen it all... someone does something stupider
Skermac posted... NovaKaneX posted...Just started this today and it's slow as hell so far. From what I've read, it's gonna take at least 6-7 hours before I get to the good stuff. I just hope my interest doesn't wear off before then. I'm up to Sequence 5 now and I gotta say, they set up the backstory really nice for when you finally get control of older Connor. The beginnin' started out a lil meh, but the twists got me hooked. Now I'm lookin' forward to what's gonna happen with the rest of the story. It definitely wasn't as bad as ppl made it out to be IMO. When I played Ass Creed 2, Ezio was cool, but I didn't care about the story at all lol. --- http://i40.tinypic.com/f50jfr.jpg Cot damn!
Probably the best one so far. The naval missions are a blast, and now knowing Black Flag is going to use them more heavily makes me very excited. --- If I were a woman, I would spend my entire day kissing other women. I don't understand gay men or straight women.-- Jim, The Newsroom |
