OfDestiny posted...I started off as some guy named Desmond and I guess I went back in time to the revolutionary war but I don't know why. Does the game explain eventually?
I honestly don't want to be rude, but if you haven't played any of the others it's only logical that you won't understand the animus or many basic features the game has.
What you need to remember here is that you're starting with the FIFTH main installment... there is a brief racconto at the beggining but you seriously can't expect the game to go in depth explaining who Desmond is and what his purpose in using the animus is.
For that, I would recommend doing a web search -you can start with the assassin's wiki- so that you get up to date with what has been going on for the last 4 games.
As for the story within ACIII all I can say is PLAY THE GAME! Dude, seriously, the first part of the game is very tutorial-y it will tell you how to do stuff. And don't expect to be given everything within the first 10 minutes of the game... why would they do that?
I just read Wikipedia and now I am up to date on the story line. It didn't mention anything about the evil ruthless tyrant George Washington but I guess he's a boss character but I will see as I play the game.
This is the first game I've played in a series that was not stand alone, meaning I had to play the first games to figure out what's going on. Looks like this is the last in this story line because it said IV will be all new characters and stories.
Anyways, I'll continue and finish III and if I like the game play I'll get the others. Don't know why they didn't call this one 5 but that's the devs for you. I learned the leap of faith just before I started this thread, now I will continue on to see if the game gets better after these tutorial missions. I think it will with the high ratings.
