Assassin's Creed III

This has happened to me numerous times when i was entering a game of AA that had already started, so i was on the screen with all the characters lined up and the teams formed then i keep on hearing "You have been stunned" i wasn't even in the game yet and i still get stunned. How is this possible and can someone tell me why this happens?

Your character will spawn in first, TC, before you take control of the character. They'll be motionless in the spawning point.

It only happens in team modes.
