Also being a MA isn't a bad choice either, auto-lock definitly helps against this guy even if you don't have any skills to got with it. Alright, that's last piece of advice, on to the next one.
I spent maybe 45 seconds to a minute on each hot spot, 6 spots total. They were not easy like past generations.

I had like 7-8 hearts and some health I had to go through. If this is the new case it is *really* unfair to certain classes. Fighters and warriors can basically give up on getting a Ur dragon ever again if this happens to them in their "grace" instance as there is no way they can latch on and kill them all without a move like 100 kisses, even with that I just couldn't do it this time, the last one was on the tip of the tail and probably only needed a couple more hits. Good luck to a class without even a bow. This seems to really favor mages and especially the magick archer and mystic knight which would still even with this be pretty easy as the home in.

That would be incredibly tedious as well...
I think I've reached a "why bother?" kind of point with respect to power in the game. You can defeat anything in the game pretty easily with level 60 pawns and PC - except the online-Ur. The only thing to do once you hit that level range is... grind for loot you don't need for anything but the online-Ur?
By the time you're 90-ish (less than half of max level), you can take out just about any "boss" creature in the game in less than a minute. The Ur-dragon is again the exception (the Archydra takes a bit longer too I guess).
So, the point of getting powerful at all seems to be killing the Ur-dragon, since you can stomp everything else in the game like they're the rabbits from the beginning well before you hit 100.
However, there's a steadily stretching power gap/discrepancy. There's everything else in the game (dead in under a minute), and then there's the Ur-dragon... (no visible damage with maxed equipment and max-level pawns during the Grace period when he has barely any health). And there's.. nothing in between.
If the point of amassing power, levels, fine-tuning your character is all to prepare for a fight where you can nominally contribute seemingly negligible damage to an encounter with no real rewards (the reward is gear you probably already got that you'd only need for the fight you just won).
Just wanted to give a quick thanks to those that put in the work on this one. Two days ago my file corrupted and I lost a lvl 125 assassin. Thanks to those that fought this one I was able to go in at lvl 60 assassin during the grace period and get my kill in and get back Heaven's keys and Ascalon as well as DF my Fey Whisper. Now I just have to get a few more levels and I can start fighting this guy again.
This space for rent.
For people who found the dragon still had health left when the first person said he was dead, there has been server lag for the last 2 gens,I think it took around 15 mins for the server to fully update to the grace period,so some people found him dead or just finished him off anyway, and others found him still fighting and were not upto killing him.
personally i just finished him off,but if your not upto doing so in the 8 min time limit, just restore to last checkpoint or quit and reload save, then reenter and see if hes been updated.
If not then repeat till he has no health on the bar, then just pop the hearts.
As a side note, in my "thank you for contributing" pile of crap, I got no items. Over the course of the past several hours, I bought and used enough Maker's Fingers to take him down around 1.8 bars across several fights.
My reward? Three sacks of money, a ferry stone, and a wakestone. I can't even buy a single Maker's Finger with the "reward". What a joke...
Did anyone get a "kill" anyway? The tablet shows I killed him, even though he flew away, and I got the worst loot so far. Pity kill?
I'm supposed to be dead.
^ I went in and he had a cm of health left and numerous orbs which I did my best to destroy. But then time was up and he flew away. I left and rested at an inn, came back in and he had no health left but I still needed to destroy a few orbs. Then I got all 8 pieces of loot.
wow, im shocked to say the least... there really are people here that play this game that try to kill the ur-dragon to get DF items? O.o ... daywm... Don't know if you are down to do this but the way I get DF items is go to dragon... any dragon, save the game RIGHT before the fight... kill the dragon (you dont need to get fire breathed on to get DF items) just kill the dragon asap, see if you get DF items... if you didn't quit without saving, reload (or those with god's bane use it, retry) then just go back home, sleep 5 days, come back, rinse and repeat, till everything you want is DF.
