I can help with weight affects. I got this from the guide book.

Weight Classes are broken down to 5 categories. SS, S, M, L, and LL. Below are the actual numbers for each class.

Under 50 KGs = SS
50-69 KGs = S
70-89 KGs = M
90-109 KGs = L
110+ KGs = LL

Weight Affects are as follows for each weight class:

SS and S: +1.8% Stamina regen, Stamina cost for everything reduced by 0.5%, Movement speed +1.15%, Max Encumbrance restricted to 40 KGs.

M: No advantages or weakness. Baseline max encumbrance is 65 KGs.

L and LL: -0.6% Stamina regen, +2% Stamina cost for everything, -0.8% Movement speed, Max Encumbrance is 100 KGs.

Story Stage Progression

Stage 1 - Start of Game : Basic Items in Shops, Cassardis still Recovering
Stage 2 - Off With Its Head!(Encampment Hydra event battle)
Stage 3 - Finish any Wyrm Hunt Quest (from Knight in Noble Quarter)
Stage 4 - Finish Come to Court (Meet the Duke)
Stage 5 - Finish Trials & Tribulations / Griffinís Bane
Stage 6 - Finish Reward and Responsibility
Stage 7 - Finish The Final Battle (Post Game)

Quests available are mostly controlled by the stage of the story progression. Stage 3 for instance creates a new Notice Board quest in Cassardis to hunt three Golems.

Shop inventories are mostly controlled by Story Stage Progression.

Two shops in Gran Soren request Idols to improve their inventory. The idols are bronze, silver and gold, and the gold idol does give the better inventory results. The Idols can be forged, but giving the forgeries don't count for unlocking new inventory in the shop. The forgeries do give their merchant discount bonuses though (10% 20% and 30% discounts respectively).

Bronze: Hillfigure Gnoll, Witch's Hut
Silver: Quest reward
Gold: Quest reward (Escort Duty, be nice)

Details on how to get Gold Idol : http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/626515-dragons-dogma/62907145

Almost all shops have one special item that is only sold at max affinity. Aestellaís in Cassardis will sell the Cassardi Flamberge at friendship 650+ and story level 6.

As an example of how to get good gear, here is one example piece of gear:

Edenís Warden - One-handed Sword enchanted with fire element:
Chests: Catacomb Basement 2, Ancient Quarry, Watergodís Altar
Shops:Caxton(Bronze or better idol), Reynard(Stage 2 + Search Party Quest)

The Search Party Quest BTW involves buying lots of items/enhancements from Reynard until he gives a quest with multiple stages. Scrap Iron stage enables Edenís Warden.

In Ancient Quarry Edenís Warden can spawn in one treasure chest in the SE mining loop room. There are two chests there with the following loot lists:
- Iron Hammer 70% - Scalding Razors 15% - Edenís Warden 15%
- Ogre Bone 62% - Bronze Cuirass 13% - Iron Lorica 13% - Helical Archistaff 12%

Ok, but i gave caxson the gold idol and have yet to have his inventory updated with these new weapons. How does the game decide when to unlock weapons? i was under the impression that after you give him the gold idol it unlocks all of the exclusive stuff. Could someone clear this up for me? Thanks

As my above post states: Shop inventories are mostly controlled by Story Stage Progression.

Give the Gold to one merchant, Silver to the other, keep a Gold forgery for discounts. Use bronze ones to throw at poor people.

Where is ur dragon?
And is there a leveling guide?
Where should I lvl up as a 52.?

It's officially referred to as double-casting. Basically two or more mages can overlap casting circles for a given spell and they all synch up and do it faster and then all cast at the same time. It only works for about five spells though, like Bolide and Maelstrom.

Ur-Dragon? That's a post-game New Game+ sort of thing.

Leveling guide? Stats and Skills have been provided, figure it out yourself. Shouldn't ask me, I play as whatever random class that I feel like at the moment. Stats, they go up, it's amazing.

Question on the effects of the elements.
-Ice freezes or slows things as I see it...
-fire burns them over time.
-dark?
-holy?
-lightning?

So far it seems like fire is the go-to, nothing likes fire.

Yeah, I find kinda lame that everything is basically fire, at least from what I've played. The pawns won't shut up about using fire, lol no **** it's fire.

Fire > On Flame which does damage over time
Ice > Frozen, can't move, double damage on break
Lighting > Thundershock, stun, very effective vs cyclops
Holy > HP Drain based on attacker's Magick Defense
Dark > +10% Magick Damage (basically more damage caused)

Oil Soaked = More fire damage, on flame easier, reduces ice and/or electric.
Water Soaked = More Ice/Lighting damage, freeze easier.
