This game has blown away all my expectations, it's so good.
There is only a few gripes I have and a giant problem.
No fast travel ruins this game. Yes, I know about the portcrystal. Except I'm 30 hours into the game and I haven't come across a single one yet. Even when you get one, you only get one.
The fun part of this game are the interesting quests and I'm finding myself actually not being bothered by the long walks to missions.
But having to walk from Gran Soren to the starting fishing village or to Shadow Fort or the distant countryside is a giant pain in the butt. So much so that I've started to not do side quests any more as I don't want to deal with a 30 minute trek to the mission (yes, it takes that long, especially when you get ambushed every two minutes by wolves, goblins, or bandits. Doesn't help when you run into the occasional dragon or griffin either).
Ferrystones need to cost less. There needs to be fast travel to Gran Soren, Hillfigure Knoll, Shadow Fort and Cassardis.
It hurts me that I've gotten to the point where I'm just ignoring sidequests and adventuring and the good parts of this game because travel is such a pain in the butt.
I would so rage if Capcom release fast-travel as DLC and made us pay for it.

Well, you could just make a B-Line for new game+ and purchase all the portcrystals you want.
I knew I was an unwanted child when my bath toys included a toaster and a radio.

10k starting price for a Ferrystone and less after the Fournival questline is done is too much? What in the world do you spend money on? This game throws more coin at you then any other, and if you ever run dry just do a run through the Catacombs and Everfall since they are both right next to Gran Soren, sell the loot and grab some. Problem Solved.

I actually like that it doesn't have fast travel, it really reminds me of Dark Souls with that. The game has shortcuts to most areas, but thats what makes it awesome. Going to each area feels like an adventure, fast travel I think would kill what some of the game wants us to do....EXPLORE. I don't know how many times I've been headed to Gran Soren and get distracted by a path that I haven't seen or a cave to explore.

Dark souls had fast travel with the lord vessel, unless you're just trying to say you couldn't go everywhere with it and had to walk to some places.
I would like a fast travel option as well, just a horse carriage that you pay a few coins to use to travel between the cities would be nice. Having it be optional wouldn't kill exploration, the people who constantly used it might miss out on some cool stuff but if you wanted to walk everywhere you still could. The game is still great though and I'm content with everything else about it.
Max Combo! What a crazy mix!
There IS fast travel but you need A LOT of money and you need to beat the game first.
After you start new game+, you can go to the black cat market and buy port crystals for 200k each. I think the max you can get is 6.

Agreed. I just walked Ser wassisname (sergei?) umpteen miles having to guess the way to his shrine(you'd think HE would know the way and help all he does is mathers on about "starry-eyed boys")at the Shadow Faert and now after delivering it I aught to be aughtly available to aughty well enter said fort, I can aught to not... and now I have to aughty well walk all the aughty way back to the capitol... grrrrrrrr. And there's a dragon waiting for me outside the faert.
Also the game needs markers on the hud for enemies that have been spotted. Sometimes you get "A GOBLIN" shrieked at you by aughty old Rook or another char in their too lowly pitched voices and one aught to be able to find the enemy, but at time one cannot, so a red marker for enemies seen woud help... aughtly alotly.
I must also aught to say that the games art style reminds me alot of Demon's Souls more so than Dark Souls. I'm wondering if the same artists worked on those projects.
Bloody wish aughty not to be having to be waulking so aughty faert, I mean farrr grrrrr
