My crew was around level 26 or so and I was escorting the village chief from Cassardis to the Shadow Fort. I spotted the drake in the woods so I took the long way around and headed northwest (above the lake). I killed like a million gobos and dropped off the old fart then headed back the same way. Not once did I engage the drake or even here my pawns mention it. When I was north of the lake fighting saurians I saw the drake lift off into the sky (above the trees by far) and fly.

About 2 mins later I get a message "leather cape has been dragonforged" and my lol-worthy 3 star leather cape I haven't replaced is now dragonforged! I didn't get any exp or anything and I didn't see any other messages, but the drake is gone now. Can the gobos in the area kill him? Did he crash?

Nah, I doubt the Goblins can kill it. Apparently that Drake has a weird Dragonforging thing like that. I recall someone telling me how he first encountered the Drake and just ran. Moments later, he got the Dragonforged message.

I have some strange suspicion that the ground under him un-renders and he falls through the world.

He fell into the Lake, and the Brine took him. Congratulations!

I would have been pissed if he was a one-time fight, ha ha. I was so obsessed with his disappeance I ended up running face first into my first Chimera fight. Pwn'd him.
