Just got a fat green guy with red afro as the Senechal. Epic ending ruined.

i'm pretty sure it changes depending on all facial features (hair style, colour, etc) and your class.
so....
it was your own fault :P

If you were offline it would have been your previous Arisen. By being online it just pulls a random character, kinda helps with the whole cyclical theme either way.

Was a fighter, the Senechal was a magick archer named GARO in katakana.

I do that offline so my 'story' makes sense to my characters

Currently at NG+ about to go NG++ cause I missed some quests and wouldve gotten me 'The Hero' in NG+ but stupid me didnt research more about the quests >_>

Hmm... Whenever i beat the game it just seemed to be an Arisen who looks similar (same hairstyle, hair colour, eye colour AND face shape) but with different armour and weapons (still same type) and name

i always play online...Maybe i just got really lucky

Spoilers I guess.

But why would you fight your previous character if that character killed themselves and thus didn't live on forever (or however the story goes)?

Maybe it just pulls a random Arisen and you always fight them after that point.
