How do I get Magnus to join my party?

Get Meline and you get Magnus later.

I'm pretty sure it's not as simple as that. I think there are two instances where you have to protect him and Pamela first. You might also have to be nice to him the other times you meet, but that could just be for getting his ending.

You lose the game if Magnus or Pamela dies during those battles. Protecting them is not optional.

protecting meline is optional, which decides whether you end up in the original route or in the modified.
getting magnus and pam is part of the modified route... not optional

in a battle where magnus, pamela and meline are included. just don't let them die, save them.

there is a story scene (can't be missed ofcourse) where you gain and use this projector inside your villa there is a choice in that projector called access psyche, just read that part.

the fruit scene where you give the fruit to meline and the cryptic documents that you will give to pamela is a part of the story so it can't be missed. and those 3 documents are hard to miss because that are also the white items that blink.
