they will come out with a controller that resembles a handheld...watch. Its been this way for years.

Nes makes a d-pad when atari/coleco/intellevision etc used joysticks....from then on out all consoles had dpads

Snes makes a pad with shoulder buttons...from then on out all consoles had shoulder buttons

N64 - makes a pad intergrating dpad w/ analog and rumble...form then on out all consoles integrated dpad with analog and rumble

Gamecube...well, nothing significant

Wii - motion controller...oh look, psmove and kinect.

Yep, 6 years ago. It's called Remote Play using PSP as a controller on the PS3.
