I think history has shown $300 is the key pricepoint.

I've never seen a console do well above the $300 mark. Ps3 didn't sell in any significant numbers until it reached that. Can anyone remember a console selling well above $300 ?

The PS3?

The Atari 2600 was also more than it is now it was about 1000 dollars, several home computers were expensive as well.

Edit: It also happened the same thing as the PS3, they lowered the price and the Atari 7800 came out.
