halomonkey1_3_5Posted 6/18/2011 7:50:07 PM | what happens if the one that comes with the system breaks/gets lost? am i going to have to call and get them to send me another for a crazy amount of money? or am i just screwed?
dammit i wanted to be excited but every time more info comes out its just bad news...first no DVD/Blu-Ray(BD isnt a big deal, but come on? no DVDs? my toaster could play DVD's at this point) now only 1 "innovative" controller per system(unless you buy more from a 3rd party, apparently) which means no devs will actually make use of more then one, since a tiny amount of Wii U owners will have them, its just wasted time, plus there is no way the Wii U will be on par/more powerful then the next generation of consoles, so there goes the entire "futureproofing" argument.
and no, just because i have a ton of DVD players, that is not a valid reason to leave it out. i mean plenty of things can play FM radio, why include it in a car? because its a nice feature to have, and another selling point(which at this point the Wii U could use).

cysthebIitzPosted 6/18/2011 7:52:56 PM | I'm sure if the controller breaks and it wasn't your fault, it will be fixed/replaced for free. and yes, everything can play dvds but that doesn't mean Nintendo's system should. I don't expect my bluray player to play wii games. It's a bluray player, not a video game system. the Wii U is a video game system, nothing more. --- "Today, I killed my best friend" |
StopthinkPosted 6/18/2011 8:39:44 PM | And what if it was your fault? No one wants to pay for the entire system again just to replace a controller. --- imo for the tight asses |

Because it is practically free to include an FM radio. It was patented in 1933 (so it is long expired) , and now you only have to pay for the materials. DVD support means buying a license (The people making the 10/20 buck DVD players have payed off their license). Also: You aren't taking any of things in the car 100%, the things that play dvds are in your house 99%.
Now, if Nintendo's next console after the Wii U still uses discs, DVD is possible (The patent should expire by then) --- God was a dream of good government. You will soon have your God, and you will make it with your own hands.-Morpheus -Deus Ex |
FurryyifferPosted 6/18/2011 8:45:58 PM | Hasn't it been said that each console can support at least two pads? Why is everyone still going on about only one per system thing? --- Ryuho, mate to Mizuki ^-^ GT: FurryRyuho...Loving, protective, and dedicated - I'm a Romantic Seme! |

I'm sorry, there is just no... i don't even know what to say to that. lololololololol --- "Today, I killed my best friend" |
RyuVegasPosted 6/18/2011 8:56:11 PM | That isn't the point, he is more worried what to do if one breaks, which is an entirely legitimate concern. I know if mine broke I would be TREMENDOUSLY annoyed if I'd have to send it in, waiting at least week, probably more realistically, just to get it back. It would be exceptionally nice to have the option just to purchase a a new one.
I mean if your clothes and shoes break or whatever, you're not going to send them back in to the manufacturer to get them fixed right? Maybe its a terrible example but I was just trying to think of things that naturally are made to take extended abuse. --- "If we can hit this Bullseye the rest of the Dominos will fall like a House of Cards... You'll be able to buy them online. --- I bet the service doesn't improve. At all. Someone can sig that if they want. - Turtlemayor333 |
sknmakPosted 6/18/2011 9:04:20 PM | I believe Nintendo will either decide to sell extra Wii U pads/controllers or find away to allow more than one Wii U controller. Doesn't make much since to allow only one IMO. I can see a lot of fun using more than one Wii U for multiplayer titles.
About the DVD stuff...I really don't give a damn about that since my PC can play DVDs, I have a DVD player, my X360 can play DVD's...my DVD PLAYER can play DVDs [:p] and my old PS2 can still play DVDs believe it or not...it's still alive and kicking.
It would be a nice benefit I suppose, but I'm glad it's not included I'd like to keep the price point as low as possible. I know it's more than a year away, but I don't know how much I'll be spending on games next year. --- Forum is now up and running. http://gamingpyro.omgforum.net/ |
