IMO, the Wii U is what the Wii should have originally been.

Instead of making the Wii, Nintendo should have made a bundle pack for the Gamecube that included:

-Wireless Wiimote-like controller + sensory bar with an adapter that plugs into the Gamecube controller slot.
-Component cables
-Online broadband adapter + another adapter to make it Wi-Fi.
-6GB memory card for necessary downloads + game saves.

Price: 100 bucks.

Would have saved me money.

Also, don't get me wrong, I loved the Wii and played a bunch of games to death. It's an awesome system.

It doesn't work that way. You don't just plug in a sensor bar and a Wii Mote.

The console needs to be able to understand those actions. A GC obviously isn't built for that.

If you mean send us a new console, they did. It's called a Wii.

From a gamer's perspective, yes I would have liked the Wii to be the Wii U. From a business/logical/profitable point of view, that would have been a huge mistake for Nintendo. The console would have cost more than $599 US dollars, and if the PS3 had a very hard launch, than the Wii would have suffered even more. Everyone would own a 360 because the price of the other systems would be ridiculous. At the time, nobody had HD TVs, so the capability of "better" graphics wouldn't even matter if your TV can't show you.
