Gamestop (Europe) told me the Wii U will cost 399 Euro!!!

Went in today and talked to the guy and he said that online and in store preorders all believe that the Wii U will cost 399 euros.

Thats like 435 dollars I think.
Anyway I really hope they are wrong...
they said they got the news directly from Gamestop headquarters which got the tip off from Nintendo Europe which is partnered with them.

There's no chance. Nintendo would be committing suicide.

What they said. Also, if it was 399euros it would be 399usd.

400euros is over 500usd or even 550usd. If thats the price its going to be then there's no way that i would pay that sum unless its WAAYYY more powerful than ps3.

I can guarantee that in Europe its not going to sell too good and in Finland (where i live) they should not even bother releasing it because 20% tax. It would be 480euros which is over 600 usd. With that price its as ridiculous as Ps vitas 32gb memory card.

You guys do know that prices don't translate like that for games, right? When Systems are sold they are roughly the same price everywhere regardless of conversion. It's one of the reasons region locking exists. There are some places that are an exception, like Australia, but it's not normally like that. If the price was 400euros it would be 400usd and 40000yen respectively. But it won't.

Also, Gamestop is not a reliable source for information. I was once told by them that the new character in RE6 was Alex Wesker (Albert's MIA brother) and was told that they got the info from Capcom themselves. We all know that is incorrect.

Lots of points to clear up.

Firstly, GameStop don't have a price. Any price they told anyone is a placeholder.

Secondly, 400 in Europe would mean US$400 in the US. Games console prices don't convert the same way as currency does. For pretty much every machine, if you take the price in dollars, you'll find it's the same as the price in Euro.

European console prices always include tax. So if the price given was 400, then there would be no tax on top of that, and 400 would be what you paid in a store (except Finnish stores typically add a bit extra anyway, but that's just them ripping you off, it's not tax).

What the hell? They're that expensive. You can get a Micro SD 32 gb for around $20 if I remember correctly.
