like microsoft or sony or the snes because their first party is too dominant. Whenever mario or metroid or zelda or smash comes out it has so much appeal that they can't compete. sony's first party is at a similar level but it lacks the replay value in most of its exclusives. Microsoft has games on par but their are only 3 of them now (halo,forza and gears) now that crackdown flopped,fable super flopped and alan wake has been disregarded.

So, according to your logic, concerning the 'awesomeness' of Nintendo's own games, that the only way Nintendo could get 3rd parties to support the Wii U would be for Nintendo to not support their own console? Competition drives the industry, if Nintendo is so darn good, then 3rd parties should work harder to challenge them.

The topic title is right. The OP isn't.

It's not that 3rd parties can't compete. It's that they wish for Nintendo to go the way of Sega so that they can have their dream of the omnipresent PC to take over the living room. The Playstations and Xbox's are those dreams, seeing as they're more like computers than they are game consoles (installing games on a console lolwut).

Back in the 80s, I think it was Trip Hawkins who hyped up the ideals of the PC and declared that console and arcade gaming was DEAD. Then Nintendo destroyed that dream. Lul.
