Why didnt Nintendo allow us to map the buttons on VC games?

When im low on battery, I like to use the GC controller. Problem is, for 90% of SNES games, it's borderline unplayable --- http://www.backloggery.com/dty16 <----FCs GE 4813 3424 1557 Quick Man
they're like a stick in the mud in some ways. unfortunately this is one of them. shame as it would greatly improve all vc games.(especially 3ds ones) --- Super Nintendo Defender system
I decided that they couldn't possibly be stupid enough to not be aware of the issue. Either they were really, really unprepared and that aspect of the Virtual Console is somehow not able to be patched or fixed in any way and they screwed up big time, or they purposefully made most VC games unplayable on the GC controller so they'd sell more classic controllers. When, as a first party developer, on your own console, with your own controller, people can't play some of your best games (Super Mario World is one of the worst cases of a VC game being unplayable), you have a serious problem.
Well, it's not allowed on the 3DS either. Not sure. Is it available on other systems? As an emulation function, not in-game from the options. --- "When does a man die? When he is hit by a bullet? No. A man dies when he is forgotten." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hA_lDpKDVoQ&feature=colike

No, it's not allowed on other systems, but on the other consoles it isn't an issue because for Sony, their controller has the exact same design as it did originally (all important buttons are in the same place). Same story with MS. The 360 controller and Xbox controller are virtually the same, minus the placement of non-crucial buttons, and that the 360 controller is a huge step up from the original in comfort. I don't think Nintendo would even need to allow you to have custom controls...the problem they had this gen was that the GC controller's major four buttons (A,B,Y,X) are all spun 90 degrees from the SNES configuration, making games where you have to hold Y to run, and press B to jump on SNES, for example, quite literally unplayable.
Super mario world and donkey kong country had horrible button placement on both the gc and classic controller <_< the classic controller didnt change a thing. I had to put my index finger on y to run and thumb on b to jump. Very awkward but i got used to it.

The classic controller is pretty much a SNES controller, and SNES is the console those games were originally released on..... While this control type isn't too common anymore, it was pretty commonplace in the 90's...just arch your thumb to hit Y, then temporarily flatten it whenever you need to reach B. With the GC it's impossible to do this because from where your right hand rests, your thumb isn't long enough or at the right angle to replicate this kind of action, and you have to, like you said, use two fingers. But the classic one works fine....again it pretty much is a SNES controller with a few extra buttons/joysticks.

Push both Y and B with your thumb --- http://www.backloggery.com/dty16 <----FCs GE 4813 3424 1557 Quick Man

It wasnt mine so im not too familiar with it. I think it was the classic control pro though, is that different than the normal classic control?
The CCPro added handles. It's the same as the CC. --- "When does a man die? When he is hit by a bullet? No. A man dies when he is forgotten." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hA_lDpKDVoQ&feature=colike |
