How stupid would devs be not to use this optional reward system?

It would sell more copies for a relatively low amount of effort. You can't really argue with it, about 1 in 10 gamers on xbox live has 1000'd King Kong or Avatar...

No reason not to do it. I'm no fan of achievements in general, but they can be ignored easily enough, and other gamers *do* like them. So why not?

Some devs just don't want to spend any time thinking about that kind of thing. For example, I have Guilty Gear 2 Overture for 360 and the achievements in it are ridiculous. Basically, they put in an achievement for each level, a couple of secret achievements like "slipping on a banana" and then the rest were things like "win 1000 online matches with this character". Not forcing devs to do it let's them breath.

But Pandaman, I bet you there is one gamer out there who has 1000'd it and gazes at his gamercard each day with pride... Or weeps himself to sleep after his wife divorced him... Either way really.

I want them... I honestly and truly do.

I don't need a pat on my back for beating the first level

If I was a copy, why would beat myself up?

If you can beat MM9 without dying....You have NO life. I beat that game and it was a nightmare. I congratulate anyone that can do it without getting hit or dying, but you still have no life. lol

They are already required to include them in Xbox and PS3 games, so multiplatforms will obviously include them.

I did that and I only played through the game about 2 times previously so it's not like I spent hours upon hours practicing. I wasn't even planning the run, it just came naturally. You just have to try to remember where the tricky parts come up and always make sure you are using the right weapon for each boss. It probably helps that I have been playing MM since the NES days. The no damage run though...never attempted or plan to attempt that.
