Sega has recently renewed the trademark for its highly regarded Skies of Arcadia which came out on the Dreamcast and the Gamecube. The most likely reason for this renewal is that Sega is working on an HD remaster to join the likes of NiGHTS, Jet Set Radio and Sonic Adventure 2. Sega is apparently preparing a number of digital games for Wii U.

Likely because it will be coming to Eshop psn and XBL

I hope they step up their PC ports of this stuff. Sonic Adventure DX 2010 was downright unplayable.

Maybe I won't have to shell out $40+ for the game now :D

But I still might, for hard copy (unless the thing comes out at $10. Too hard to pass that up).

Now all we need is Shenmue 1 and 2.

Then they can give us Shenmue 3 with the same graphics as Shenmue 2.

While there is every reason to believe that a HD port of Skies of Arcadia is on the way, a trademark renewal, in and of itself, means nothing. Companies renew trademarks on a purely routine basis, and it just means that they are still claiming ownership of the mark. Sega renewing the SoA trademark doesn't mean that they're going to release (or re-release) SoA - it just means that they don't want anyone else releasing a game of that name,

Previous renewals:

Super Hang-On: http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Super_Hang-On (renewed in 2006, not re-released until 2010)
Various games: http://segatastic.blogspot.ie/2009/02/more-dreamcast-games-re-trademarked.html (including games that have not been re-released in any form, such as 18 Wheeler, Sonic Shuffle and Cosmic Smash - also includes Rez which had already been re-released at that point).
