Will this be a typical Nintendo cycle?

1-2 Zelda games
3-4 Mario games
1 Metroid game
1 gimmicky DK game with some new controller
Wii fit and Wii Sports
1 Mario Kart game
1 SSB game
Annual installment of either Mario Party/tennis/soccer/track
And very little third party support

It's likely, but not guaranteed.

The only problem with non traditional controls is that the community will be reluctant to buy a cross platform title because it doesn't take advantage of the controls because it wasn't developed for Wii U.

You seem to think that the Wii alone constitutes a "typical" anything >_>

Probably, although we are getting 2 SSB titles with one for the 3DS and they hopefully will resurrect Series like F-Zero, as well but Nintendo has has a system for releasing their games and I don't see them adopting a new business plan although they may modify it to try and compete again.
