Because frankly, the only U title at the moment that wows me, graphically, at least, is Pikmin 3. It looks leagues better than anything the PS3 or 360 have put out yet.

Ah. Sorry. I only saw the beginning of his post.

Though, apparently, it's running in native 720p at 60 FPS, more than most 360 games can claim.

That's good and all, but it still isn't impressive graphically...

Perfect Dark Zero was impressive when it came out, as was Kameo, Madden and King Kong lol. Anyone that says otherwise simply isn't remembering correctly.

This. These fanboys are delusional. NONE of those games were possible on the Xbox/PS2, EVEN IF you ignore the significant increase in resolution from 480 to 720p. Yeah, those games aren't on par with the best 360/PS3 games coming out now, but they still blew the previous gen away.

Here's what Gamespot said when comparing the original Xbox version of King Kong to the 360 one:

"The Xbox version of Peter Jackson's King Kong already looks fantastic, but the Xbox 360 version gives its Xbox competition a good thrashing like it's a misbehaving T-rex. The game uses the 360's hefty GPU and memory subsystem to produce improved lighting effects and juiced-up monster models for an even more memorable Kong experience.

The jungle environments benefit from high-resolution textures and excellent lighting. Resizing the image down to 480p adds a definite blockiness, but you can still recognize the quality of the source."

That tells us 3 things: 1) The Xbox version was a graphical showcase for an Xbox title; 2) The 360 version, a LAUNCH title, gave the Xbox version a "thrashing"; 3) Even in 480p it STILL looked significantly better. And let's not forget the game made use of STILL more processing power because it displayed natively in 720p.

Gamespot said similar things about Need for Speed, Madden, NBA Live, etc.

And this article shows how the 360 was comparable to a PC upon release:

TO THIS DAY, PDZ has some of the best texture work on the 360 or PS3:

PDZ was not possible on the Xbox, especially in 720p. Does it look as good as Halo 4, Rage, or KillZone 2/3? No, but it hold its own against many FPS released today (textures are leaps and bounds ahead of COD) and it blows everything released on the original Xbox/PS2 out of the water.

640p*.
Early 360 titles usually opted for 640p due to the "free" ~2xmsaa equivalent through using the EDRam. Pretty sure Perfect Dark Zero was one such game.
It really was quite remarkable for it's time. Lovely POM, motion blur, ect. It's too bad Microsoft trashed Rare so bad.

If a game aged poorly, odds are it was never good to begin with.

Yep, the fanboy that go on about how the 360 was bad at launch are either:

Too young to actually remember.

Having selective memory issues.

The only games that impressed me at the launch of the 360 were PD:Z and NFS:MW.

Kameo only had a few extras in graphics compared to this version of the game, running on the XBOX 1:

The PS3 didn't impress me at launch (it did later, starting with MGS4)

Multiplats looked worse on it, and imo Resistance was ugly compared to Gears 1.
