So people that actually have current tech and can use hdmi cables should have to buy them?

To be fair, you have to with pretty much everything else. I've never seen a Blu-Ray player come with one. My HD cable box didn't come with one. The PS3 and 360 don't come with them.

I remember when i bought an N64 and i didn't have a tv with a composite input. I was upset too until i went to the store and bought a cheap rf adaptor. Get over it.

Moment I started using HDMI cables I knew I wasn't going back to anything else.

I'm still waiting for that feeling. No HDTV yet. =/ Yes, I live under a rock. A rock with internet. =D

Yeesh. All this stupid stubborn pride being thrown all over the place over a goddamn *game console*.

On the one side, it is fully compatible with component and composite cables, you likely have one already, and if you don't it will cost you maybe $5 to pick one up, but it's just *SO RUDE* that they're not giving you another one!

On the other side, people are obligated to keep up with the Joneses, so spend your money the way we think rather than how you want, and you're just a stupid loser if you have other ideas!

This whole topic is hilariously pathetic.

Well, that's if you are looking at the extremes only.

But seriously. When does any industry have pack in accessories or cables for what is considered dead technology? Never. Sure, you can blame Nintendo on not packing in the old cables, but why not everybody else that did it for the past 70+ years. You know. The majority of the markets everywhere. But i will agree. This topic hardly has merit when the solution is so cheap and simple.

They gave the more expensive HD cable and didnt give the cheaper AV cable, which is the opposite of what most companies do. I'm fine with that.

The Wii U is compatible with the Wii's AVI cables. Stop whining.

I agree, it's pretty unfair. But if you want the Wii U, you have to put up with it.

It sucks yeah.

Aso, TC doesn't want the Wii U. He even said if he had an HDTV he wouldn't buy it. So the topic is kind of useless.

I don't know if it got mentioned, but your Wii's cables are fully compatible with Wii U. In fact, I'll be using my Wii's component cables on the Wii U.

I have ignored when this was mentioned because it is exactly like when they reasoned "oh, well eveyone had a DSi, so everyone will have a AC Adaptor to charge their 3DS!" That is NOT an acceptable way to do things. It's just Nintendo being control freaks. Again.

So in other words, because Nintendo doesn't want to make you buy something you already have, they're control freaks.

Move along, nothing to see here folks.

Umm, even if you had a valid point (you don't) that still wouldn't solve the region lock point, which is intentionally used to force people to buy locally (why? To price fix obviously). And it doesn't change the fact that you always cater to the lowest denominator. For the 3DS that would be to assume when someone buys the console they could possibly be someone brand new to the series. And with the Wii U it's to assume some of their customers still use Standard Definition TV's.

Holy f***ing hell. What do you people not get about the point that Standard Definition clearly isn't dead yet, not even close. Holy crap. That point would hold water if Standard Definition was dead, given how pretty much every form of media still caters to it and Nintendo wanted to be that special snowflake that didn't it's clearly still alive, fading, but nowhere near dead.

If you don't intend to play the Wii U using HDMI, you don't deserve to play it at all.
