I just realized that the analog sticks on the Gamepad are positioned awkwardly.

Look how high they are. If you are playing a game that requires them, you'd feel like 80% of the mass of the gamepad is underneath where your hands are grabbing. Normally, its the opposite (gameboy, DS, 3DS)

Either the mass is above your hands, or just about centered. I'm trying to imagine myself holding a handheld by the top corners and looking at a screen below my hands. Feels weird.

There's the back of the gamepad. Looks like it's contoured to shift the weight towards where your hands will be

I'm not worried about the gamepad. I've read some articles that aren't too optimistic about the Wii U overall, but they still seem to say that the gamepad is comfortable. And of course, people who are optimistic say the same thing. The point, is that people who don't like the Wii U (or don't like it that much, at least) still like the gamepad, so that at least should mean that the gamepad is pretty good.

Agreed, TC. I've been thinking about that myself... definitely something I can get used to, but I'm sure it will feel awkward for a little while.

As someone that's tried the controller, I can say it's very light and has grips on the back. Nothing felt awkwardly placed.

I felt the exact same way, until i actually held the controller and played it at PAX. It feels really good and doesn't seem awkward at all.

The only thing that can take some getting used to is moving from the face buttons to the touch screen to do some sort of swipe and then back to the buttons smoothly, but that will come in time.

And the controller is deceptively light.

I thought holding the Wii Remote/Nunchuck combination was going to be strange and that I would never get used to it but it quickly became second nature to me.

I think the Wii U Game Pad will be exactly the same.

This is very good news. I was a little concerned myself, but from the picture, it looks like it should operate just fine.
