When I went to GameStop, this was a very sad conversation I heard

I talk people out of pre-ordering the Wii U at my store because the system is a huge ripoff and a slap in the face from Nintendo.

More than one person returned a day or so later to thank me for saving them money.

No. That is total BS and didn't happen. Even if someone was stupid enough to listen to your nonsense and cancel their pre-order (and I doubt they would anyway since people who pre-order are not impulse buying but buying something they know they want or for someone who wants it and you aren't going to change that), no one is going to turn all delusionally anti-Nintendo like you, enough to come back and "thank you". Lie to yourself all you like. Keep making up stories to boost your fragile ego, but don't bother lying to us. It's just sad.

No, it actually did happen. I exaggerated the amount of times, but it has happened twice where unrelated people get into a follow-up conversation when I am working and they express happiness over saving money. I've specifically talked 6 or 7 people out of buying the system altogether, and tainted perceptions of the system wherever and whenever appropriate.

I apologize you feel the need to insert garden variety community college psych into and all over this situation, but believe me, people like avoiding buyer's remorse.

People get caught up in hype, but I always make sure they know the lay of the land before they throw tons of money down on paltry launch titles, overpriced hardware or bogus, needless features.

it's really not hard to talk someone out of buying something. nobody likes to spend money, so much as to HAVE money, or to have THINGS. It's really easy to do with this system because no devs have any money into this garbage and no games are on the horizon. Portable Mario is not worth 60 dollars no matter what planet you are from, which leaves the launch lineup completely devoid of substance.

Miiverse? Don't even get me started on the "online strategy." They don't want DLC, they don't want sales and competitive pricing. They just string people along with overpriced trash and market themselves as separate or above.

The easiest people to convince are the parents, because you tell them things like:

"Timmy won't like it, Nintendo isn't cool and there no good games come out for it."
"He will stop playing it within a month. Not worth the effort."
"For your kids? I've heard these are really fragile, might not be the best fit."
"Buying this would be like buying All Bran for your toddler."
"I've been hearing they may be recalling some units? A child wa

Hey, just wanted to say thanks! You just saved me a bunch of money! I still play my SNES, N64, and DS, but now that I know that I'll put it down after a month, I won't have to worry about buying this.

And I had no idea it was fragile! I assumed it would be sturdy because my other Nintendo items have worked through plenty of abuse cause by my klutziness, but if this won't withstand the same abuse my Wii has, I had better not buy it!

And the recalls? I dodged a bullet there, because I hadn't heard anything about it. I mean, I read some articles about some problems they had in 2011, but I didn't know it was still so bad!

Sarcasm aside, I can believe you have talked some parents out of it. Some parents don't have a clue about video games. You should just hope that the wrong kids don't whine every time they see a WiiU ad or box because I know some people who would come back angry to talk to the manager. They may be crazy, they will probably sound like idiots, but for some reason, crazy works a lot of the time.

Also, all bran for your toddler? That's just silly.

Everything you just posted was wrong.

Coming up: 60 dollar portable mario outdated-out-the-box babys first tablet/mobile port platform known as the Wii U. Price will drop, as will stock, This system could have been a hit in 2010. 2011 even. It's bound to stink up pawn shops and clutter your drugstores like the Wii does now. It's games will fill the value bins near the escalators. You've already forgotten how in October of 2006 saw that same bin overflowing with Gamecube titles.

DEJAVU

But if "ifs and buts" were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry Christmas.

More nonsense...

Now if only you could use your future seeing powers to good use. Tell me oh swami, what will the lottery numbers be for the next $200 million+ be? When will man finally walk on Mars? Who will win the Superbowl in 2099?

/excessively over-the-top sarcasm.

But seriously though, feel free to try again, but keep in mind you only get 2 more posts this hour... This time though, tell us the one about how only Nintendo games are ever in that bin, or about how all the PS3s were completely sold out at launch everywhere, or maybe the one where the 360 dominated in Japan. That one's my favorite.

Four Swords Adventures, Mario Sunshine, Sonic(s), Killer7 and Odama, as I recall.
Killer7 was an actual bargain though. WiiU has portable Mario at $60, last year's midcarders and multiple local multiplayer titles, which hilariously enough, are also full price.
No developer support, it's a dead duck on arrival unless you like to pantomime social interactions while you "watch" Tvii.

On another note:
Your sarcastic form lacks discipline.
See also: unreturned phone-call, bounced cheque.

You are a grade A idiot. Losing sales for a system - not a game, a SYSTEM, which is more money - you haven't even used yet, just to fulfill your fetish for seeing Nintendo have a remote chance at failing?

I really hope you get fired.

Why would I care how much money my corporate superiors make? I don't.
The only money there is to make in games (on a store level) is through sales of used games and warranty service plans, neither of which I care about, for one, because we do not have used games, and for two, because I don't try to sell things I do not believe in.

Yeah....that might work if you owned your own small game shop, but I doubt you'd be working at Gamestop long with that attitude.

That is funny... I am very good friend with the General Manager from one of the 2 Gamestops here in town (I've known him for over 20 years) and he was recently at a meeting in Texas where all of the Managers from across the U.S. attended to preview the Wii U and every single launch game and he spoke very Highly of the system and the majority of games that he got to play, he did say that Nintendoland was not so great.

So why do you feel that is Nintendo ripping people off and slapping people in the face..?

Not that I disagree/agree with him, but I'm sure he/Gamestop have a vested interest in the Wii-U doing well, so I doubt he'd be 100% honest about his experience.

If you have no hair on your armpits, cool, that's a valid concern. If you do, have no fear. Miyamoto has Peter Pan syndrome too. You're not alone.

I have the normal amount of armpit hair, and while I enjoy my testosterone-laden power fantasies as much as the next male...it is in fact possible to thoroughly enjoy Nintendo games as an adult (unless you happen to have some weird condition where your self esteem is inextricably linked with the games you play and the system you play them on. Worry not - a few days of fresh air, and limited exposure to your daily gigs of porn will fix that).

I'll agree that I'm not a fan of people who try to force their opinion on others, but violence is not the answer (and it certainly won't do any favors for your business) - blow an aliens head off virtually, it will be just as satisfying and won't land you in jail for assault. Also, you might want to spell/grammar check your posts before you espouse the benefits of education to other posters ("ex cepted" = "accepted", "every" etc. etc.). Well formed, and readable sentences make far more of an impression. Also, I wouldn't let forum trolls like shoot get to you, they typically lead small little lives and get their kicks aggravating others over the internet (especially since there's little fear of repercussion), and are likely meek as mice in real life.

Yeah, having awesome games does suck.

Good thing we all got PS360s, with little to no variety in the gaming library, and useless media features.
Man, do I love playing games with generic heroes, to hell with actually interesting ones like Mario, or Samus, I prefer FPS guy 41, and generic action fantasy heroine 9941.

Why settle for Kirby or Earthbound when we have stock HD 2D animu fighter, from arccomcoega?
And reboots of games from the 90's no one cares about.

Can't wait to see you defend these games once Nintendo gets them. Some fanboys are just too sad.

Funny thing is, I won't defend them. I know how bad most PS360 games are.
I won't praise Bayonetta 2, as the first was trash.
AC is one of the few gems the HD twins got.
ME was awful on the PC, also, lolol Bioware.
I have a PS3, my PSN is Oni_Ishida, if you don't believe me.
