I'm apparently one of the few on this board that seem to recall games can possess both engaging stories and fun gameplay.

Metroid Prime.

For the most part though, story in games is like CGI in movies; not always necessary.


Riiiiiight.... cause Avengers would have felt the same if the Hulk and Iron Man were done with wires and cheap styrofoam costumes!

Also Prime has a disgusting story. It has some interesting lore but the story is almost a joke.

The Lore in Metroid Prime is it's story, and it is done really well. You truly feel like you are Samus investigating the world and learning about what has been going on. The plot was simply fantastic and it immersed you completely in the world.

Paper Mario games have a story too. This latest one for the 3DS may seem a little more diluted though, but whatever.
